Audi 90 Quattro, 1987 model

Extremely good traction, quite powerful engine, very nice engine sound (so good that find yourself driving with the window open in rainy conditions only to listen to the 5 cylinder engine). The handling is exceptionally good, especially in slippery conditions and in snow mud (God did not create the hill which it cannot climb). Curve handling is only a pleasure: Neutral, with the option of using the pedal for power steering. Gear shift is a pleasure: short stick and precise shifting. The interior is very modern and sober looking. The quality is top. Corrosion is no problem, as the whole car is galvanised.

Too soft suspension, should be lowered a lot. The engine should have even more output. Boot space is very limited (yes, there is room for the toothbrush and your credit card - but not a luggage for a family of four).

Saab 900 Turbo 16, 1985 model

If a car is capable of loving something, this car loves overtaking! The turbo charger changes this family sedan into a monster. One day when you are out crusing and run at 30 km/h in first gear, you should be careful "flooring" the throttle. What happens is that the wheels start spinning! However, the best feeling is when you cruise along in second gear and keep the revs at 3000 o/min. To surprice all your passengers, you "just happen to" floor the throttle. Whaooooow! All passengers will have a nice smile on their face and maybe say something like: "Sure this car has got the power!".

Traction is a problem, I guess that the front tires whold have to be replaced every year, if this have been my own car. The turbo is of the old kind, with the typical ketchup effect. This means: First you get nothing, then you get nothing, the nothing, and then you get everything!

VW Polo 1.4 16V, 1997 model

Sporty sounding engine which really love high revs. Good torque all over. Feels like a cute, handy car. Quality looking interior, nice gearshift.

The power is not good enough for a sporty feeling when there is more than one person in the car, especially with full tank and full stomack. The wheels are a bit small and the traction could have been better. Even my grandmother would be able to create some wheelspin after a "traffic light start".
